About The Position

Reporting to the Director, the Registered Nurse (RN) must demonstrate the passion to provide bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill population of patients. The Registered Nurse should possess the knowledge and skill of how-to safety apply the nursing process to assess, plan and evaluate the care of patients with various health conditions. This 30-bed unit provides care to patients with primary cardiac diagnoses, as well as to medical patients that require cardiac telemetry monitoring. 4 South Acute/Cardiac is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians. Staff receive support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred). Note, if the BSN or MSN degree is not present on hire, the employee must sign an agreement to obtain a within a specific time frame.
• Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
• BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
• Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
• Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or MSN preferred
• At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
• Ability to communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patient.
• Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
• Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
• Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
• Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
• Educates patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
