About The Position

This 10-month, full-time position provides confidential health services to students and staff to help maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. The Registered Nurse Float assesses and addresses health needs in routine and emergency situations, supports student well-being through medications and treatments, and collaborates with families and school and medical personnel to coordinate care. The role also supports health assessments, recordkeeping, mandated reporting, staff training, and connections to community health services.

Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse registration in the State of Illinois.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, interpret, and provide health care to students and staff in general and emergency situations to address safety and health concerns.
• Administer medications and perform procedures and treatments to support student health and well-being.
• Collaborate with students, parents, medical personnel, and school personnel to manage student health care in the school environment, including creating care plans when appropriate.
• Schedule, organize, record, and oversee health assessments; make appropriate referrals and follow up when necessary.
• File state and local mandated reports and maintain accurate student health records and staff reports to comply with health and safety laws.
• Provide health-related training for school personnel to support student health and meet applicable federal, state, and district regulations.
• Serve as a resource to community health services for families and staff to address and support health needs.
• Participate in professional development to maintain licensure, grow professionally, and meet district requirements.
