About The Position

Mobile Health Team Inc. is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) - First Assist for a 13-week travel assignment in Pittsfield, MA. This position involves providing first-assist duties in the operating room, including exposure, tissue handling, retraction, homeostasis, suturing, and wound management. The role requires independent scrubbing and assisting across various surgical specialties, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring efficient operative flow. The nurse will also participate in preoperative planning, demonstrate age-appropriate care, perform circulating nurse duties, prepare the operating room, support anesthesia providers, monitor aseptic techniques, and engage in pre-admission, preoperative, and postoperative RN duties. Patient and family education regarding the perioperative process and nursing assessments with documentation are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 2 years current FIRST ASSIST OPERATING ROOM experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree
  • Meditech Expanse experience
  • Perm address must be included in profile
  • Traveler must have their own vehicle for this need
  • Massachusetts RN license required
  • Active Certified Perioperative Nurse CNOR certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the AHSA during employment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask

Responsibilities

  • Provides first-assist duties including exposure, tissue handling, retraction, homeostasis, suturing, and wound management
  • Applies knowledge of instrumentation, anatomy, and sterile/aseptic technique
  • Independently scrubs and assists across specialties including, but not limited to Orthopedics, General, Robotics, Vascular, Gynecology, and Spine
  • Anticipates surgeon needs and ensures safe, efficient operative flow
  • Participates in preoperative planning with surgeons and the surgical team
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and needs of the patient
  • Performs circulating nurse duties according to Operating Room standards and policies
  • Prepares the operating room with supplies, instruments, and equipment needed for the scheduled procedure
  • Supports anesthesia providers and ensures safe patient positioning
  • Monitors compliance with aseptic techniques and safety protocols
  • Engages in pre admission, preoperative, and postoperative RN duties as applicable to Outpatient Surgery (Outpatient Surgery Center, Pre admission, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
  • Provides patient and family education regarding the perioperative process
  • Conducts nursing assessments and documents care in accordance with policy
