About The Position

The emergency department at Rochester General Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 24/7 facility featuring a centralized layout for rapid patient care, advanced diagnostic technology, a dedicated pediatric ED, a discreet crisis intervention unit, and a trauma suite located steps from the ambulance entrance for immediate stabilization of critical patients. Rochester General Hospital is a 528-bed acute care teaching facility in Rochester, NY. It is Magnet-recognized and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center. The hospital is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park, and offers several specialized services.

Requirements

  • Active New York Single State RN license (NY is not Compact).
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification.
  • NIHSS certification (must be valid and included in submittal).
  • EPIC charting experience required.
  • RNs must be located outside a 75-mile radius of the facility.
  • Must be available to work every other holiday.
  • Must be available to work every other weekend.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Room (ER) for adult patients.
  • Administer IV therapy, including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs with vasopressors.
  • Manage patients requiring CPAP/BiPAP and ventilators.
  • Care for patients with CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI.
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Provide emergency care for various conditions including adult/pediatric ED cases, gunshot wounds, and ortho trauma.
  • Implement and manage isolation precautions.
  • Perform triage.
  • Care for pediatric spinal cord injury patients.
  • Float within skillset as needed.
  • Be available to work every other holiday.
  • Be available to work every other weekend.
