The Emergency Room (ER) is a large and busy department. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience, and first-time travelers are not accepted. The patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics. The unit is a General Emergency Department (Non-Trauma), characterized as very large and busy with high acuity. It is Stroke and STEMI Certified. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with an average daily census of 165-175 patients in the 59-bed ER. The primary electronic health record system is Epic. The expected scrub color is Navy Blue. The maximum response time (RTO) for offers is 7 days. There is a blackout period for Spring Break from April 4th to 12th. Nurses are expected to work every other weekend unless otherwise specified. Floating is rare but may be required within the facility and scope of practice. Holiday work is expected if major holidays fall within the assignment period, with specific expectations for one, two, or three major holidays. Full compliance is required to start on time; non-compliance will result in a two-week delay due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule. Candidates will undergo a clinical screen for fit, and if they pass and are within guidelines, they will be sent to the manager for a final decision. Locals are accepted at the same rate. The number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours is determined by the contract length.
