The Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (RN ER) initiates and manages the nursing process for admitted patients. This role involves delivering nursing care, including patient education, prioritizing care based on patient needs and clinical settings, and executing medical orders from physicians. The RN ER will administer medications, oxygen, and treatments, and operate therapeutic devices. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs and health indicators, providing direct patient care, documenting patient information, and recognizing and responding to life-threatening emergencies. The role also involves identifying and intervening in adverse reactions to medications and treatments, performing quality control checks on medical equipment, assisting with specimen collection, and serving as a member of the healthcare team during after-hours and emergency situations. The RN ER provides comprehensive nursing care specific to the age and condition of patients, ranging from neonates to geriatric patients.
