About The Position

The emergency department at Rochester General Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 24/7 facility featuring a centralized layout for rapid patient care, advanced diagnostic technology, a dedicated pediatric ED, a discreet crisis intervention unit, and a trauma suite located steps from the ambulance entrance for immediate stabilization of critical patients. Rochester General Hospital is a 528-bed acute care teaching facility in Rochester, NY. It is Magnet-recognized and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center. The hospital is affiliated with Cleveland Clinic and Roswell Park, and offers several specialized services.

Requirements

  • Active New York Single State RN license (NY is not Compact).
  • EPIC experience required.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification.
  • NIHSS certification (must be valid and included in submittal).
  • Experience with IV therapy (blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting/maintaining IVs).
  • Experience with IV vasopressors.
  • Experience with CPAP/BiPAP.
  • Experience with ventilator management.
  • Experience with CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI.
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring (interpretation and management of dysrhythmias).
  • Experience with emergency care (adult/pediatric ED, gunshot wounds, ortho trauma).
  • Experience with isolation precautions.
  • Experience with triage.
  • Experience with pediatric spinal cord injury.
  • Must be available to work every other weekend.
  • Must submit RTO/Block & Special Scheduling Requests upon submission.
  • RNs within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted (locals rule).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Room for adult patients.
  • Administer IV therapy, including blood products, central line care, and starting/maintaining IVs.
  • Manage patients requiring IV vasopressors.
  • Operate and manage CPAP/BiPAP and ventilators.
  • Care for patients with CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI.
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Provide emergency care for adult and pediatric patients, including gunshot wounds and ortho trauma.
  • Implement and manage isolation precautions.
  • Perform triage.
  • Float within skillset as needed, potentially to other units.
  • Be available to work every other holiday, if needed.
