About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (Adult). The role involves 4x12 night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) for a 13-week contract. Experience with EPIC charting is required. The nurse will be responsible for various clinical skills including IV therapy (blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting/maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors), CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator management, care for patients with CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI, cardiac monitoring (interpretation and management of dysrhythmias), emergency care (adult/pediatric ED, gunshot wounds, ortho trauma), isolation precautions, triage, and pediatric spinal cord injury. The unit cares for adults and geriatrics with all types of emergency diagnoses. Special equipment includes Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment. Nurses may be required to float within their skillset.

Requirements

  • Active New York Single State RN license.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification.
  • NIHSS certification.
  • EPIC charting experience.
  • Experience with IV therapy (blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, starting/maintaining IVs, IV vasopressors).
  • Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management.
  • Experience with CVA (stroke), neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, TBI.
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring (interpretation and management of dysrhythmias).
  • Experience in emergency care (adult/pediatric ED, gunshot wounds, ortho trauma).
  • Experience with isolation precautions and triage.
  • Must not reside within 75 miles of the facility (for RNs).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pediatric spinal cord injury.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Room.
  • Administer IV therapy, including blood products and vasopressors.
  • Manage patients requiring CPAP/BiPAP and ventilators.
  • Care for patients with neurological conditions such as CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI.
  • Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias.
  • Provide emergency care for various trauma and medical conditions.
  • Implement and manage isolation precautions.
  • Perform triage duties.
  • Operate special equipment such as Bair hugger and rapid infuser.
  • Float to other units within skillset as needed.
