About The Position

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Endoscopy (GI Lab) team. This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday daylight schedule (6:30 AM - 2:30 PM, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, or 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM). The role involves rotating on-call duties, typically one night every two weeks and one weekend every 6-8 weeks. Shifts can be 10 or 8 hours, with rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities. The GI Lab team is a motivated group focused on patient safety, patient satisfaction, and staff satisfaction, while maintaining a good work-life balance. Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school
  • Two-year acute care experience or other comparable nursing experience
  • Current CPR
  • Basic dysrhythmia certification
  • Successful completion of ACLS (or attainment within one year of date of transfer)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the Care Team’s delivery of personalized, efficient care with respect for patient’s spiritual and cultural differences.
  • Promotes factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering patient care.
  • Provides initial and ongoing assessment throughout patient stay.
  • Participates in discharge planning while maintaining a therapeutic partnership with patient, family and caregivers.
  • Initiates individualized patient and family teaching plan, with appropriate supportive documentation.
  • Demonstrates competency in safe medication administration including initiation and maintenance of IV therapy, administration of conscious sedation and accurate documentation per policy.
  • Implements physician orders and records physician’s telephone orders in the electronic medical record.
  • Establishes a collegial and collaborative relationship with all physicians.
  • Promotes RN physician communication to enhance patient safety through communication.
  • Effectively communicates patient’s status, using SBAR (Situation-Background-Assessment-Recommendations) and anticipates situations that prevent/minimize adverse outcomes.
  • Applies critical thinking skills and judgment in preventing, analyzing, and resolving patient care concerns.
  • Completes annual dysrhythmia examination and demonstrates knowledge and understanding of dysrhythmias, treatments, interventions, and expected outcomes.
  • Reassesses and reports signs and symptoms, progress, and changes in the patient’s condition throughout the pre, intra, and post procedural period providing appropriate intervention and accurate documentation while striving for positive experience and outcomes.
  • Performs the required amount of on-call duty during evenings, weekends, and holidays after successfully completing 6-month probation period.
  • Completes annual medication exam with a passing score.
