About The Position

Ottumwa Regional Health Center provides a wide range of health services, including emergency medicine, critical care services, medical/surgical, acute rehabilitation, obstetrics, and pediatrics, as well as specialty services such as cardiac catheterization, diagnostic and therapeutic radiological services, wound care, pain clinic, sleep lab, pathology, and so much more. Ottumwa is a center for “cultural and commercial development” known for its low cost of living, abundant recreation and entertainment, and outstanding education and healthcare facilities. Join our team in an 18-bed Emergency Room unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. We are staffed with RNs, ED techs and unit secretaries, providing specialized care for patients primarily diagnosed with respiratory failure and cardiac conditions. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care for acutely ill patients. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process, their skills in clinical judgment, critical thinking, prioritization, and time management to care for patients throughout the life span and with a variety of healthcare needs. The registered nurse also performs assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Active Iowa RN license (single-state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Recent ER, ICU, Step-down, Med/Surg, Walk in Clinic or Urgent Care Clinic experience required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six (6) months of hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within six (6) months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Providing nursing care for acutely ill patients.
  • Utilizing the nursing process, clinical judgment, critical thinking, prioritization, and time management to care for patients throughout the life span and with a variety of healthcare needs.
  • Performing assigned procedures that are within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.
