RN - Registered Nurse - Emergency Department - Multiple Shifts
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization. This role involves implementing and monitoring patient care plans, assessing and coordinating patient discharge planning needs, and serving as a primary coordinator for all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. The RN will also note and carry out physician and nursing orders, and monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate. New graduates are welcome to apply. The position is located at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham.
Requirements
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- PALS Provider obtained within 6 months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing AND professional licensure at time of hire required.
- For the Freestanding Emergency Room, a minimum of one (1) year of critical care or emergency experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
