About The Position

Arrow ARC is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) to provide high-quality, rapid-response care to patients with acute and emergent conditions at the Atlanta VA Health System. The ED RN will function both independently and under the guidance of the Nurse Manager or designee, ensuring timely triage, stabilization, and treatment in a fast-paced environment while delivering a holistic approach to patient care. Shift: Night Shift, 1930-800 (12hr shift/3-days per week)

Requirements

Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license from any state in the United States.
Certification: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association. Current Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association. Certification of Emergency Nursing (CEN) through the Board of Certifications for Emergency Nurses (BCEN). Nurses with Acute/Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) certification through the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certification Corporation (AACN) with ED experience will also be considered.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience in an emergency department or major trauma center emergency room, with no more than a six-month gap in employment in that setting.
Education: Graduate of a professional nursing school approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by ACEN or CCNE. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field, is highly preferred.
Strong clinical skills in emergency care settings.
Proficient in inserting and maintaining peripheral and central lines.
Skilled in medication administration and emergency care.
Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
Ability to provide psychological support and handle emergency situations effectively.
Team-oriented with a focus on collaborative patient care.
Ability to complete and successfully pass any required government background check

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field, is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assess and manage patients with a wide range of physical and psychological conditions.
Provide emergency care, including medication administration (oral, subcutaneous, IM, IV), blood product administration, and bedside testing.
Perform phlebotomy, peripheral line insertion/maintenance, and central line care.
Assist in operative/invasive procedures and care for patients in isolation or requiring special precautions.
Insert and troubleshoot urinary catheters.
Collaborate with physicians, residents, and ancillary staff in patient care.
Initiate patient education and discharge instructions as prescribed.
Maintain complete and accurate documentation per facility policies.
Provide psychological support to patients as needed.
Assess and care for patients with diverse physical and psychological diagnoses.
Provide care to patients requiring special precautions, such as those in isolation.
Assume patient care assignments for a group of patients, ensuring their comprehensive care.
Administer medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous) and blood products.
Perform complex wound dressing care and maintenance.
Provide care for COVID-19 positive patients and Patients Under Investigation (PUI) for COVID-19.
Insert and maintain peripheral lines.
Maintain central lines for the administration of intravenous fluids.
Perform phlebotomy and bedside testing.
Provide emergency care as indicated.
Verify physician orders.
Complete and document care accurately according to facility and unit policies.
Offer psychological support to patients as needed.
Work closely with the healthcare team to meet patient care needs.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
