The Registered Nurse in the MedSurg and ICU Department is responsible for defining the characteristics needed to perform successfully. This position is represented by RCHEA. The role requires maintaining accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. The nurse must also maintain and meet expectations for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies. Additionally, the nurse must maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition, and meet charge nurse expectations as assigned. The role also involves meeting professional behavior and guest services expectations, monitoring the hemodynamic status of patients and correctly interpreting the results, and performing head-to-toe assessments on all patients, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. The nurse will also prepare, administer, monitor, and discontinue IV fluids, provide a professional environment and appearance, and willingly perform other duties as assigned. The position serves children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care and service. The nurse must be able to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret it relative to age-specific needs, as well as demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the life span. The ability to handle emergency situations promptly, precisely, and professionally is essential. Nursing documentation must reflect a comprehensive understanding of the nursing process.
