The Registered Nurse in the MedSurg and ICU Department is responsible for defining the characteristics needed to perform successfully. This position is represented by RCHEA. The Registered Nurse Director of Emergency Department oversees this role. The role requires adherence to Professionalism and Self-Development standards. The nurse must be able to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret it relative to age-specific needs, providing the necessary care. This includes demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles and critical skills for age-appropriate care in an Intensive Care setting. The nurse must be able to handle emergency situations promptly, precisely, and professionally. Accurate and continuous nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes, is required. Maintaining current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition is essential. The role may involve meeting charge nurse expectations as assigned and meeting professional behavior and guest services expectations. The nurse will monitor the hemodynamic status of the patient and correctly interpret the results. Nursing documentation must reflect a comprehensive understanding of the nursing process. Head-to-toe assessments and reassessments are required for all patient populations (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) per policy. Preparation, administration, monitoring, and discontinuation of IV fluids are also key responsibilities. The nurse is expected to provide a professional environment and maintain a professional appearance while on hospital grounds. Other duties and innovations as assigned will be performed willingly.
