About The Position

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) will work the 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM shift. This role requires the nurse to have at least 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting, with some experience in pediatrics. Travel experience is required, and candidates must reside at least 75 miles away from the facility. Local candidates (less than 75 miles) will be considered at a local rate. The unit has 64 beds, including triage, acute care, super track, trauma, CDU, and psych beds. Common patient diagnoses include Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, MI, Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure. The nurse will be expected to float within the hospital as needed. Scrub color for the unit is Navy Blue.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Emergency Department.
  • Some Pediatric (PEDS) experience.
  • Documented travel experience.
  • Current AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC certifications.
  • Active NY License.
  • NURSYS Report.
  • Licenses verification.
  • EPIC EMR experience.
  • Must live 75 miles away from the facility.
  • Up to date resume that includes travel experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Charge Capability is highly preferred.
  • Experience with common patient diagnosis: Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, MI, Cardiac Arrest, Resp Failure.
  • Experience with specialty equipment: Rapid Infusor, Arctic Sun.
  • Experience with a patient population including Newborn, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatric.
  • Experience with required drips and medications: Pressors, Vasodilators, Anti-arrhythmics, Sedation, TNK, Heparin and Insulin.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department.
  • Manage common patient diagnoses such as Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, MI, Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
  • Administer required drips and medications including Pressors (Levophed, Neo, Epi, Vasopressin, Dobutamine & Dopamine), Vasodilators (Cleviprex, Cardene, NTG), Anti-arrhythmics (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lido), Sedation (Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl), TNK, Heparin, and Insulin.
  • Operate specialty equipment such as Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
  • Care for a diverse patient population including Newborn, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatric patients.
  • Float to other units as required.
  • Document patient care using the EPIC EMR system.
  • Potentially serve in a charge nurse capacity (highly preferred).
