This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families, practicing according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit. The nurse shares knowledge with patients and families to promote wellness and achieve optimal quality of life, and is accountable for maintaining competence and developing professional nursing practice.

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Current Certification of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (Essential)
  • Current CPR Certification (Essential)
  • Minimum 2 years Emergency Department Experience, along with the demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience (Essential)
  • Current PALS certification or successful completion of PALS certification within 12 months (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Demonstrated culturally sensitive approach to nursing care (Essential)
  • Demonstrated strong family centered care skills (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years pediatric Emergency experience (Preferred)
  • Experience with pediatric triage (Preferred)
  • Bilingual (English/ French) (Preferred)
  • Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for individual patients/families.
  • Effectively uses the nursing process.
  • Practices according to the standards set by the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Hospital, and the patient service unit.
  • Shares knowledge with patients and families in order to promote or maintain wellness, and to achieve an optimal quality of life.
