About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department (ED) at Texas Health Fort Worth, a Level I Trauma Center, will deliver care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care. This role incorporates age-specific safety and infection control measures, initiates actions to meet patient information needs, and maintains continuity of patient care across shifts and transfers. The ED is a 100-bed facility with a 75,000 square foot Level I Trauma center, featuring a Quick Care area for minor needs, diagnostic rooms, 22 Emergent Care rooms (including three resuscitation rooms), and a dedicated area for sexual assault victims. The department fosters a supportive, team environment with opportunities for educational and career growth, including leadership advancement.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS – within 90 days required
  • PALS – within 90 days required
  • TNCC or ATCN – within 12 months of hire required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire required
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
  • Current ED strongly preferred - will consider ICU/PCU, Tele experience
  • High degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
  • Basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.

  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
