About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care in an Emergency Department setting. Key responsibilities include rapid patient assessment and triage, administering medications, performing life-saving interventions, and assisting physicians with critical procedures. The nurse will also provide patient-centered, culturally congruent care, collaborate with the healthcare team, and maintain accurate patient records. Full-time nurses are required to fulfill on-call duties.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree, Diploma, BSN, or MSN.
  • Valid Virginia RN License or Multi-State Compact License in good standing.
  • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • ACLS, PALS, or ENPC certifications required within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of recent clinical experience in an acute care setting (e.g., Emergency Room, ICU, Telemetry, or Med/Surg) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly assess patient status, prioritize cases based on urgency, and implement plans of care.
  • Administer medications, perform life-saving interventions, and assist physicians in critical procedures (e.g., intubations, starting IVs, splinting).
  • Provide culturally congruent care, collaborate with the healthcare team, and communicate effectively with patients and distressed family members.
  • Maintain the highest standards of nursing practice and professional performance, keeping detailed, accurate patient records.
  • Full-Time nurses are required to have 16 hours of on-call duty per 6-week scheduling period.
