Registered Nurse - CVICU Full-time Days
About The Position
This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. The CVICU is a 25-bed unit within an 833-bed Level I Trauma Center and a MAGNET facility. The unit specializes in the care of cardiovascular surgical patients, handling a wide range of procedures from peripheral vascular surgeries to complex open heart surgeries. The department is known for its high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills, offering self-scheduling for work-life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth. It also features a Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team, operating as a high acuity, high volume department.
Requirements
- Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required
- CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
- Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
- BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
- ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
- CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
- 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
- Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
- Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.
- Have basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

- BSN preferred
- Current ICU/PCU experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
- Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
