About The Position

This is a full-time Registered Nurse position in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Texas Health Fort Worth. The CVICU is a 25-bed unit specializing in the care of cardiovascular surgical patients, handling a wide range of procedures from peripheral vascular surgeries to complex open heart surgeries. The department is a MAGNET facility and a Level I Trauma Center, known for its comprehensive cardiac care and high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills. The role involves delivering care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process, incorporating age-specific safety and infection control measures, and initiating actions to meet patient information needs. The position offers self-scheduling for work/life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and engaged leadership.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing required.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required.
  • Basic computer skills using medical management application systems.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • CLIAFE – Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required.
  • Current ICU/PCU experience preferred.
  • High degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
  • Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
