Registered Nurse-Critical Care Float Full-Time Nights
About The Position
The RN Float-Critical Care reflects Northwestern Medicine’s mission, vision, and values, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards. This clinically competent registered professional nurse prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for acutely ill patients through assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The nurse interacts effectively with patients, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining ANA standards of professional nursing practice.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
- CPR – Basic Life Support.
- CPR – Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Nice To Haves
- Telemetry skills; must pass a basic EKG test within one month of hire.
- Two years of Intensive Care Unit experience.
Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze data, identify expected outcomes, develop and implement individualized plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress toward outcomes.
- Consistently demonstrate the eight key behaviors of hourly rounding.
- Direct care and determine the appropriate utilization of assistants involved in providing direct patient care.
- Perform the critical response RN role effectively, including participation on rapid response and code blue teams, RN/tele consults, and patient visitations.
- Create a documented, outcomes-focused plan reflecting decisions related to care and service delivery and communications with patients, families, and others.
