About The Position

The Nursing Float Pool Program is designed to provide a flexible, highly skilled workforce to support patient care needs across the hospital, help to improve staffing stability, enhance patient throughput, and promoting high-quality patient outcomes. Float Pool Registered Nurses are organizational resources who support staffing needs across multiple clinical areas based on competency, patient acuity, and operational requirements. Float pool nurses may be assigned to a primary unit or service area for six-week assignment periods. These assignments provide continuity and staffing stability but do not establish a permanent home unit. Nurses may still be reassigned during any shift based on operational needs. Float pool nurses are hospital-wide resources and may float to any competency-validated area within their designed track based on patient census, staffing shortages, acuity, patient throughput needs, organizational priorities, or emergency situations.
