About The Position

This position supports two units: the Adult Co-Occurring Disorders Unit and the Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit. The Co-Occurring Disorders Unit is a safe and welcoming inpatient unit for adults aged 18-65 experiencing more than one mental health condition, potentially including a substance use disorder. It focuses on helping individuals safely navigate crises and begin their recovery journey, serving as a short-term psychiatric inpatient unit. The Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit is a 22-bed inpatient unit for adults with mental illness, typically admitting individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, severe anxiety, or generally unsafe behavior. Common disorders treated include major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, dissociative disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing-acquired through at least one year of inpatient RN experience; prior LPN inpatient experience will be considered with every one year of LPN experience equating to 6 months RN experience.
  • Candidates residing in a compact state may apply with a multistate license and must obtain a Maryland RN license within 60 days of relocation.

  • Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
  • Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician.
  • Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
  • Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
  • Document and report patient progress to treatment team.
