About The Position

This position utilizes clinical practice and hospital operational knowledge to provide day-to-day support for clinicians, managers and staff for the purpose of improving the effectiveness (quality and safety), and efficiency (cost and streamlining) of care delivery across Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. The role involves system development, design, implementation, ongoing system utilization, training, communication, and project/team participation and leadership within the Clinical Informatics team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Active State of MA RN License
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting
  • Experience with Epic EHR
  • IT experience or advanced IT training
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge with clinical informatics
  • Ability to translate clinical needs into system application solutions
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks and project components
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma and project management tools/techniques
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • MS Word, Excel, and PPT proficient

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Informatics or related field
  • Informatics Certification or Epic Certification

Responsibilities

  • Gather input from multidisciplinary team stakeholders for system development, design, and implementation.
  • Recommend IT solutions based on workflow reviews and pertinent information to improve efficiencies, patient care, and data collection.
  • Serve as the clinical liaison on development and implementation projects, conveying clinical care and operational needs.
  • Test new systems, upgrades, and enhancements to minimize disruption and downtime.
  • Troubleshoot questions and problems related to clinical applications using critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to resolve issues.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for system/procedural changes and education.
  • Create, edit, and contribute to system documentation, policies, procedures, and communications.
  • Develop materials and educational programs to train clinical system users.
  • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary projects and teams related to clinical system use and improvements.
  • Use principles of Lean Six Sigma in project management efforts.
  • Identify root and contributory causes of barriers and performance gaps.
  • Create project plans with clear objectives and timelines.
  • Maintain project tools to communicate status of initiatives and keep teams on track.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nursing practices, regulatory standards, and organizational direction.
