About The Position

UMC OR performs around 16,000 cases per year and with over 250 employees, the OR is one of the largest departments at UMC. Our nurses are trained in all aspects of the perioperative phase and work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and ancillary staff. Registered professional nurse who assesses, implements or delegates, plans, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in accordance with established philosophy, providing and directing patient care for a group of patients. Relates effectively with other shifts/departments for optimal continuity of care. Gives professional nursing care to patients and provides supervision and guidance to the members of the nursing staff at least 50% of the time. Has experience in general nursing and a working knowledge of organizational and nursing policies.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Valid Texas RN License/Eligible Compact License
  • Must maintain a current BLS & ACLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Minimum of 2 years of OR experience required
  • BSN required or must earn within 3 years

Nice To Haves

  • CNOR Certification preferred
