About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Telemetry department at Texas Health Southwest provides telemetry and Med/Surg level of care for adult to geriatric patients. This role involves delivering care using the Nursing Process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The department is a 28-bed unit within a MAGNET facility and a Level III Trauma Center, offering a 5:1 patient to nurse ratio. The position offers self-scheduling for work/life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
• ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
• 1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
• Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
• The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs.
• The professional nurse demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• Current Telemetry and/or Med/Surg experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
• Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
