About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiac Telemetry position is a full-time role working 36 hours weekly on 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM. The 28-bed Telemetry Department provides telemetry and Med/Surg level of care for adult to geriatric patients with general medical/surgical, endocrine, and GI/renal conditions. This role offers a 5:1 patient to nurse ratio and is located at Texas Health Southwest in Fort Worth, TX. The facility is a MAGNET facility and a Level III Trauma Center. The position emphasizes self-scheduling for work/life balance and provides excellent opportunities for educational and career growth, including leadership advancement.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1-year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
High degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Understanding of basic human needs.
Recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations.

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
Current Telemetry and/or Med/Surg experience preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process: assesses the patient, plans the care of the patient, intervenes as appropriate, evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information.
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
