About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Cardiac Telemetry unit, which may also serve as overflow for the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). The role involves managing adult to geriatric patients with a variety of cardiac and medical conditions, including arrhythmias, CHF, chest pain, and post-cardiac catheterization care. The nurse will also handle overflow from medical-surgical patients, including those with surgical needs and occasional orthopedic or CVA patients. Experience with specific cardiac drips, diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin drips is required. Basic arrhythmia knowledge is essential. The unit utilizes Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR for communication and documentation. Travelers are expected to adhere to compliance requirements and may be floated within the facility as needed. Holiday and weekend work is expected, and a maximum of 7 days RTO per contract is allowed. Clinical screening and manager approval are required for final hiring decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience.
  • Prior travel experience is required.
  • Experience managing continuous IV medications including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • Experience with arrhythmia management.
  • Experience with Cardioversion.
  • Experience with Cardiac CHF.
  • Experience with Chest pain management.
  • Experience with Renal and Pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema) patient care.
  • Experience with PE, DVT management.
  • Experience with Cardiac Arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia).
  • Experience with Surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appy's, chest tubes, biliary drains).
  • Experience with occasional vascular patients.
  • Experience with Post Cardiac Cath care, TR Bands.
  • Experience with DKA management.
  • Experience with Medical/Surgical patients.
  • Basic arrhythmia knowledge.
  • Full compliance required to start on time.

  • Experience with Epic system.

Responsibilities

  • Manage adult to geriatric patients in a Cardiac Telemetry unit, including overflow from IMCU.
  • Monitor and manage patients with cardiac arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, Bradycardia).
  • Provide care for patients with Cardiac CHF, chest pain, renal, and pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema).
  • Administer and manage continuous IV medications including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips.
  • Perform cardioversions.
  • Manage patients post-cardiac catheterization, including TR Bands.
  • Handle overflow patients from medical-surgical units, including post-operative care for cholecystectomy, appendectomies, chest tubes, and biliary drains.
  • Occasional management of vascular patients, DKA patients, and overflow Ortho or CVA patients.
  • Utilize basic arrhythmia knowledge for patient care.
  • Document care using Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR.
  • Float within the facility and scope of practice as needed.
  • Work assigned weekends and holidays as per the holiday schedule.
  • Respond to call within 2 hours if required (though typically not assigned Precedex).
