About The Position

Beloit Health System at Beloit Memorial Hospital is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiac Step-Down/Intermediate Care Unit. The Cardiac Step-Down RN provides specialized nursing care to patients transitioning from intensive cardiac care who require close monitoring and advanced clinical assessment. This role collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while promoting positive clinical outcomes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable.
  • State of Wisconsin nursing licensure, compact license or temporary permit required. (If a compact license, application for a State of Wisconsin nursing license must be initiated in no more than 30 days from start date).
  • Must be CPR/BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
  • Must be ACLS certified within 6 months of hire.
  • ASLS and NIHSS stroke certified within 1 year of hire.
  • Cardiac Telemetry course completion within 6 months of hire.
  • Peritoneal Dialysis training within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, supervise, and provide care for patients throughout their lifespan within the framework of well/illness continuum.
  • Interpret cardiac telemetry monitoring and respond to rapid changes in patient cardiac conditions effectively and accurately.
  • Assess basic physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and their families.
  • Provide nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions including cardiac rhythm disturbances, Cerebral Vascular Attacks, Peritoneal Dialysis, and other comorbidities.
  • Plan patient care and consistently implement the patient's plan of care.
  • Evaluate patient's health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions/medical therapies.
  • Provide patient/family education appropriately.
  • Adhere to infection control policies including body substance isolation and bloodborne pathogen precautions.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement program.
  • Perform unit-specific duties according to established unit-based competencies.
  • Complete documentation according to policy.
  • Set goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity.
  • Interpret cardiac telemetry every 4 hours and respond to changes in patient condition.
  • Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protect patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
  • Perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
