About The Position

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Rehab department located in Edgewood. The Cardiac Rehab RN is a professional with a nursing license to perform patient assessments, monitor patients, interpret EKG’s, supervise exercise therapy, assist with education, and counsel patients regarding risk factor modification. This role involves performing initial assessments, developing care plans, documenting patient progress, monitoring EKGs, and performing emergency procedures as needed. The nurse will also be responsible for teaching education classes and providing 1:1 patient teaching, while staying current in the field of Cardiac Rehab through continuing education.

Requirements

  • If eligible, must have a Compact (multi-state) License in their primary state of residence.
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the state where work is being performed.
  • BLS & ACLS certification
  • EKG arrhythmia recognition
  • 2 years Critical Care Nursing Experience with telemetry

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial assessment of new patient.
  • Develops care plan with other staff.
  • Develops daily assignment/assessment of patients exercise as well as their progress with the exercise.
  • Involves family as much as possible with care plan.
  • Documents initial and daily assessment in to corresponding data base (EPIC or Quinton).
  • Updates Individual Treatment Plan at least every 30 days and has signed by MD.
  • Report patient condition and changes to physician.
  • Monitor Patient’s EKG and response to exercise and report as appropriate to physician.
  • Performs emergency procedures as needed.
  • Must keep current in the field of Cardiac Rehab through continuing education, core competencies and self- learning.
  • Share knowledge with other staff.
  • Maintains state licensure requirements.
  • Assists with daily and quarterly Performance Improvement duties as appropriate.
  • Check emergency equipment daily.
  • Teach Education classes as scheduled and provide 1:1 teaching with patients.
  • Communicate with physicians and offices utilizing Epic.
  • Calculate Exercise Prescription/THRR and communicate Home Exercise Prescription with patients.
