About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Burn Trauma, Intermediate Care - Medical/Surgical Unit. This unit is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate Care and Medical/Surgical unit. There are 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care, and 17 beds for Medical/Surgical level of care. The patient population includes neurosurgery, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss patients. Nurses are trained to work both the intermediate and medical surgical sides. The nurse to patient ratio for Intermediate Care beds is 3 to 4, and for Medical/Surgical beds is 5 to 6. The RN will work collaboratively to maintain and support nursing care standards and meet patient, family, and community healthcare needs. New graduate RNs are welcome and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, followed by a comprehensive 6-month residency program. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed tertiary care facility, home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. It is recognized as an accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence.

Requirements

  • Registered Nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required (for experience)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
