About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Burn Trauma, Intermediate Care - Medical/Surgical Unit. This unit is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate Care (stepdown) and Medical/Surgical unit. The patient population includes neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic trauma. Intermediate care patients are received from the Burn Trauma ICU and Neurosurgical ICU. Medical/Surgical beds accommodate neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss patients. Nurses are trained to work both intermediate and medical-surgical sides. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 3-4 for Intermediate Care beds and 5-6 for Medical/Surgical beds. The RN will work collaboratively to maintain nursing care standards and meet patient needs. New graduate RNs are welcome and will participate in an 11-week Transition to Practice program, followed by a 6-month residency program. Experienced nurses moving into this specialty are also welcomed.

Requirements

  • Education Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • None required (for experience)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
