About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse on the BMT (14 & 15W James) unit, which is an Oncology / Mixed acuity PCU and MS unit. The unit specializes in various types of transplants including Autologous Transplants (patients receive their own stem cells), Syngeneic Transplants (patients receive stem cells from their identical twin), and Allogeneic Transplants (patients receive stem cells from a sibling, parent, or unrelated donor). The unit also handles CAR-T Therapy. Patient diagnoses include a range of hematologic malignancies and conditions such as Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Adult), Amyloidosis, Aplastic Anemia, Chronic Leukemia, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), Chronic Myeloid (Myelogenous) Leukemia, Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Myeloproliferative Disorders, and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The role involves computerized charting using EPIC. If a 12D/N rotating contract is accepted, the nurse may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period. Parking permit options are available for agency staff through CampusParc.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient hematology oncology experience.
  • Medical-Surgical (MS) experience.
  • Chemo certification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification.
  • EPIC experience required.
  • MS/Tele (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry) skills.
  • Telemetry monitoring skills.
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias skills.
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams skills.
  • Feeding tube care and management skills.
  • Blood product administration skills.
  • Central line blood draw skills.
  • Peripheral line care/management skills.
  • PICC line management skills.
  • Nasal cannula administration skills.
  • Central line sterile dressing changes skills.
  • Chemotherapy administration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients with diagnoses including Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), Acute Myeloid Leukemia (Adult), Amyloidosis, Aplastic Anemia, Chronic Leukemia, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), Chronic Myeloid (Myelogenous) Leukemia, Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, Myeloproliferative Disorders, and Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
  • Care for patients undergoing Autologous Transplants, Syngeneic Transplants, and Allogeneic Transplants.
  • Administer CAR-T Therapy.
  • Perform Telemetry monitoring.
  • Interpret dysrhythmias.
  • Utilize Rapid Response Teams.
  • Provide feeding tube care and management.
  • Administer blood products.
  • Perform central line blood draws.
  • Manage peripheral lines.
  • Manage PICC lines.
  • Administer oxygen via Nasal cannula.
  • Perform central line sterile dressing changes.
  • Administer chemotherapy.
