About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within the treatment milieu utilizing Standards of Nursing Practice and Care. The Registered Nurse follows and abides by company policies, procedures, and Corporate Compliance Programs, and performs other duties as assigned. This is a Per Diem PRN shift position. New hires must attend a two-week Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm orientation. The Ridge is a licensed, 110-bed hospital located in Lexington, Kentucky, providing psychiatric (mental health) and substance use disorder (drug and alcohol rehabilitation) services to children, adolescents, and adults. The hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week for inpatient care. Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided five days a week, during both day and evening hours. Care is delivered according to an established code of ethical conduct and strict adherence to patient rights.

Responsibilities

Accurately and timely completes the following duties: new patient admissions, assessment, orders, treatment plan, property inventory, nutritional screening, progress note, patient education, safe and efficient medication administration.
Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
Uses appropriate counseling skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture.
