About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse III / Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) in the 2EH ICU at Harborview Medical Center, reporting to the Nurse Manager of the 2EH ICU. The role involves assisting the manager with hiring, educating, and counseling nurses, while also serving as a role model for excellent patient care. The professional nurse at the Registered Nurse III level utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to manage patient care resources, make independent judgments on staffing issues, and coordinate patient care continuity from admission to discharge. The ANM performs leadership functions related to clinical practice, education, and management, including patient placement and preceptor responsibilities as delegated. This role provides leadership for unit and departmental activities to promote quality nursing care, effective problem solving, communication, and professional development for staff. Requirements

  • WA State (or applicable multistate) RN License
  • BSN degree
  • Minimum two years ICU RN work experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist the manager in all aspects of hiring, educating and counseling nurses.
  • Be a role model for excellent patient care.
  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to prescribe, prioritize, delegate, coordinate, and provide safe, therapeutic allocation of nursing resources to patients/families.
  • Make independent judgments/decisions and take action regarding a wide range of routine and complex staffing issues.
  • Collaborate with appropriate disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of the medical and nursing plans of care.
  • Perform specific leadership functions related to clinical practice, education, and/or management as delegated by and in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
  • Assume patient placement and preceptor responsibility, as assigned by the Nurse Manager.
  • Provide leadership for unit and departmental activities that promote delivery of quality nursing care, effective problem solving and communication, and continued professional development for self and others.
  • Serve as role model and provide guidance to other staff including review and evaluation of performance.
