About The Position

Harborview Medical Center is seeking a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Trainer for its Abuse and Trauma Center (HATC). This role is central to the SANE medical team and training efforts. The position involves assisting the SANE Training Manager with scheduling, curriculum development, community education, case reviews, and participation in statewide taskforces and committees related to SANE services. The SANE Trainer will also be involved in the hiring and interviewing process for Tele SANE positions across Washington State and participate in quarterly program meetings. The role requires providing Tele SANE coverage, backup clinic coverage, and emergency Tele SANE coverage. Independent judgment and decision-making regarding patient issues are essential.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Three or more years of recent SANE experience.
  • Experienced SANE with understanding of processes at all emergency departments staffed by the HMC SANE team for acute sexual assault exams.
  • Successful completion of the Harborview Medical Center 40-hour Core SANE training.
  • Successful completion of the Harborview Medical Center 40-hour Pediatric SANE training (or willingness to complete upon hire).
  • This job will require travel throughout WA State, potentially up to one - two weeks per month.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the SANE Training manager in scheduling trainers, sites, and dates.
  • Participate in the development of curricula and training materials for Tele SANE and SANE training programs.
  • Aid in community education and training.
  • Assist with monthly SANE case reviews, developing content and presenting cases.
  • Take part in statewide taskforce, workgroups, and committees related to SANE services.
  • Participate in all Tele SANE hiring, interviewing, training (across WA), and quarterly program meetings.
  • Provide Tele SANE coverage during daytime hours, 3 days per week.
  • Provide a minimum of 4 weekend or night shifts per month.
  • Provide backup clinic coverage for vacations or sick leave for Children’s Medical Clinic and Adult/Teen Follow up clinic.
  • Fill in for Tele SANE coverage emergencies as available.
  • Make independent judgments/decisions and take action regarding a wide range of routine and complex patient issues.
