About The Position

Works under the direction of the Behavioral & Mental Health (BMH) Clinical Operations Manager to facilitate daily operations, including patient flow, staffing assignments, safe patient care, and to promote a healthy work environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This role in Full-time Night Shift at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of people management experience
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the single State of Georgia or Multi-State through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment
  • Marcus Crisis Prevention Program Tier 5 training, or equivalent, within 3 months of employment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to organize workloads and resources

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of management/administrative experience in a healthcare setting
  • Experience in pediatric and/or psychiatric nursing experience
  • Professional Nursing Certification deemed by department required upon one year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Supports environment for delivery of care for BMH patients.
  • Acts as clinical resource for BMH patient populations throughout all areas of hospital, including Emergency Department and inpatient areas.
  • Maintains competence to provide and/or assist with clinical care, including acting as Code BERT lead.
  • Participates in educational process related to delivery of healthcare.
  • Maintains own professional development.
  • Fosters professional development of others via constructive performance feedback, input, and coaching.
  • Understands and supports Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's nursing career advancement program, My Nursing Career Path, as well as BMH Tech advancement.
  • Participates actively in and supports shared leadership councils.
  • Fosters collegial relationships between team members, other departments, and medical staff members.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in supporting budget, productivity, and resource utilization.
  • Manages and orders required supplies to promote quality patient care delivery.
  • Serves as department leader on shift in absence of manager.
  • Drives and effectively facilitates admission, transfer, and discharge process, ensuring efficient and safe patient flow through collaboration with physicians, inter-professional team, hospital leadership, and staff.
  • Removes or escalates barriers to appropriate leader.
  • Supports staffing effectiveness.
  • Participates in achievement of organization and BMH departmental goals.
  • Leads department staff meetings.
  • Supports plans for system and unit change.
  • Supports regulatory agency readiness.
  • Monitors activities within work environment to maintain a culture of safety.
  • Demonstrates commitment and flexibility through times of change.
