Mayo Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Adolescent Psychiatric Program. This is a closed unit caring for patients between the ages of 2-18 years who are in psychiatric crisis. The program utilizes a short-term crisis intervention treatment model, providing a safe, supportive, and highly structured environment. The nursing team is responsible for thorough assessments of biological, medical, developmental, psychosocial, psychological, and educational skills and deficits. The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice and functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, adhering to the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care. The RN provides leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. Delegation of patient care is based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are essential. The RN may participate in committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as part of their role responsibilities. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
