Registered Nurse, Acute Surgical Stepdown, Nights - VUH
About The Position

This position is on the brand-new Acute Surgical Care Stepdown unit coming to 10N, a 31-bed stepdown unit with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5. Nurses will provide a stepdown level of care to adult patients either awaiting surgery or recovering post-operatively. The unit features a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere. This is an inpatient/bedside position. The patient population includes Emergency General Surgery (EGS) Patients, Pre- and Post-Operative Surgical Patients, and Trauma and Med-Surg Overflow.
Requirements
- LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
- Relevant Work Experience
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
- 1 year experience
Nice To Haves
- EGS, trauma, ED, or surgical floor experience a plus

Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
- Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
- Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
- Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
