About The Position

Join an innovative team at the Heart & Vascular Specialists Clinic, part of Texas Health, dedicated to making healthcare more accessible, integrated, and reliable. This role involves delivering care to patients using the Registered Echo Sonographer Process, producing ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of the heart and related structures for physician diagnosis. The position requires maintaining and calibrating equipment, documenting test results, explaining procedures to patients, and potentially performing therapeutic procedures. The sonographer will also enter patient information into a computer database, review test results with physicians, and communicate about patient conditions. This role emphasizes strong teamwork, compassion, and empathy.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (required)
  • RDCS – Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer through American Registry for Diagnostic and Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Upon Hire (required) or RCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer Upon Hire (required)
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support maintained every 2 years and 90 Days Upon Hire (required)
  • Possess an excellent working knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary anatomy/pathology, the cardiac patient, and treatment of cardiac diseases
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism

  • Associate Degree Related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Registered Echo Sonographer Process.
  • Produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler flow analyses of heart and related structures, using ultrasound equipment, for use by physician in diagnosis of heart disease and study of heart.
  • Calibrates and maintains equipment and orders supplies when needed.
  • Calculates, measures, and documents appropriate values on the tests performed for review and interpretation by physicians.
  • Explains procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxieties of patient.
  • May perform therapeutic procedures.
  • Enters patient information into computer database to record information on video cassette and strip printout of test.
  • Reviews test results with interpreting physician.
  • Communicates with physicians, managers, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical conditions while undergoing echocardiogram.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
