This role offers nutrition counseling to patients and families in inpatient and outpatient settings, functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team. The initial assignment is to support the Neuromuscular team and Children's Treatment Centre services within Development and Rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Successful completion of an accredited dietetic internship
  • Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Baccalaureate degree in Dietetics
  • Bilingualism (French/English)
  • Excellent interpersonal and teaching skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides initial and follow-up nutritional counseling to patients and families.
  • Plans the nutritional care for patients on therapeutic and modified diets.
  • Maintains current and accurate patient diet information records.
  • Provides instructions for patients and families concerning dietary aspects of treatment.
  • Provides pertinent nutrition information to individuals over the telephone as required.
  • Extensive teaching of families and other health care professionals including dietetic interns.
  • Works collaboratively with other health care professions to ensure an integrated approach to care.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engages in continuous learning to develop expertise in specialties.
  • Participates in the hospital-wide on-call system.
