The Registered Dietitian (RD) is responsible for conducting nutrition assessments for all patients using the Nutrition Care Process, creating patient-specific nutrition plans, and specializing care in accordance with age-specific populations, religion, ethnic, and cultural needs. This role involves performing Nutrition-Focused Physical Examinations, assessing therapeutic diets, developing and evaluating enteral and parenteral nutrition prescriptions, and evaluating the effectiveness of nutrition interventions. The RD will participate in facility Nutrition at Risk (NAR) meetings, communicate regularly with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), and perform administrative duties such as completing forms, reports, and nutrition quality assurance audits. They will also work with the food service director to ensure safe and sanitary practices and provide nutrition-related in-services. Menu review and approval for nutritional adequacy is also a key responsibility.
