About The Position

Develop menus and nutrition analysis, nutrition education, provide nutrition counseling and other sanitation and nutrition tools for use in the Senior Nutrition Program. Provide technical assistance for the Area Agency on Aging's nutrition program. Primary office location will be in the Greeley office and Greeley/Weld Meals on Wheels. Reliable, predictable attendance within department business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday as schedule dictates. This position offers the flexibility of part-time work combined with the added benefit of our .75 benefits package. The ideal candidate will have the following traits: Attention to detail. Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian that meets the Commission on Dietetic Registration standards.
  • 1 year full time work experience providing nutritional information to clients or public.
  • Candidate must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and liability Insurance by the employment start date and maintain for the duration of employment.
  • Candidate must provide own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Weld County.
  • Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment start date.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to enter data into several different computer programs.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis.
  • Candidate must possess knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to adapt to fast paced, high volume and ever-changing work environment and be able to handle high stress situations.
  • Candidate must attend all appropriate state trainings, the senior nutrition committee and maintain participation in the state nutrition directors’ meetings and other appropriate meetings.
  • Candidate must understand and follow all Volume X regulations, Colorado Retail Food Establishment Rules and Regulations, the Colorado Department of Human Services’ Aging and Adult Services Unit’s policies and procedures, and the Weld County Area Agency on Aging Nutrition Program’s policies and procedures.
  • Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date.
  • Candidate must pass Department of Human Services background checks prior to employment start date.
  • Candidate must pass a Colorado Adult Protective Services (CAPS) check and will continue to be monitored by CAPS throughout employment.
  • Candidate must submit college transcripts prior to the first day of employment.
  • Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and Liability Insurance Upon Hire
  • Candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) evaluation and if hired, will be subject to continuous monthly MVR monitoring throughout employment.
  • Candidate must provide own transportation and be willing to travel as needed to meet the essential functions of the position.
  • Pre-employment substance screening is required for this position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and distribute menus for the congregate meal program. Menus must meet the Dietary Guidelines and the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) which is included in the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRI).
  • Develop and provide nutrition education materials and programs to all congregate sites as required by Volume X and current state and local policies and procedures.
  • Provide individual nutrition counseling services to meal participants as needed.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding such issues as: sanitation, food borne illness, and food safety to agency staff and congregate site volunteers and participants as needed.
  • Provide sanitation training to all congregate site volunteers and monitor sanitary procedures at the meal and vendor sites as required.
  • Maintain appropriate client and program information in state required data system and/or any other mandated data systems.
  • Provide information, education, and training for the Aging Network and various community organizations on services and benefits programs available through the Area Agency on Aging.
  • Participate in community information and education activities regarding available senior services, service providers, and the service delivery system.
  • Network with appropriate community agencies and professionals to facilitate special programs for the Senior Nutrition Program.
  • Work directly with the Wellness Coordinator to develop and maintain evidence-based programs.
  • Participate in evidence-based health programs for the community’s aging population.
  • Assist in writing articles for various marketing outlets such as AAA newsletters and newspaper articles.
