About The Position

Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS), in partnership with Cardiovascular Logistics (CVL), is seeking a Registered Dietitian to provide individualized nutrition care and counseling to cardiac patients. This role involves assessing nutritional needs, developing personalized care plans, and educating patients and families on lifestyle changes related to nutrition, weight management, diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, and cardiovascular health. The dietitian will collaborate with healthcare professionals and serve as a patient advocate to support CIS's mission of providing World Class Patient Care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Food and Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Registered Dietitian credential and current Louisiana licensure.
  • BLS certification required within 30 days of employment and before providing direct patient care.
  • At least one year of clinical dietetics experience, particularly with lipid disorders, obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of clinical dietetics experience preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong communication and counseling skills with the ability to connect with patients and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Independent, organized, compassionate, and comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized nutrition care and counseling to cardiac patients based on established clinical standards and best practices.
  • Assess nutritional needs and develop, implement, and re-evaluate personalized nutrition care plans.
  • Help patients make sustainable lifestyle and behavior changes related to nutrition, weight management, diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders, and cardiovascular health.
  • Educate patients and families on healthy eating, dietary modifications, nutrition supplements, and other strategies that support better health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, healthcare professionals, and community resources to provide coordinated, whole-person care.
  • Empower patients to make meaningful nutrition and lifestyle changes that support cardiovascular health and reduce risk factors.
  • Use clinical information, medical history, medications, and patient goals to create practical, individualized nutrition plans.
  • Serve as a trusted resource and patient advocate throughout the patient's care journey.
  • Support CIS's commitment to World Class Patient Care through compassionate education, evidence-based nutrition guidance, and strong care coordination.
  • Contribute to staff education and help promote a culture of wellness and exceptional patient care.
