About The Position

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) role is designed to support instructional staff and students in achieving positive behavioral changes. RBTs work directly with students aged 3-21 to develop essential skills for classroom success and to decrease challenging behaviors. Key responsibilities include collecting and graphing data, implementing evidence-based behavior strategies, training team members, participating in monthly after-school supervision, and collaborating with teams.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
  • Work with students with challenging behaviors and following evidence-based behavior intervention plans and/or positive behavior support plans.
  • Adhering to safety practices and administering first aid.
  • Basic math skills, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios.
  • Ability to read technical information.
  • Ability to compose a variety of documents.
  • Ability to facilitate group discussions.
  • Understanding of complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based behavior strategies, reinforcement theories, prompt and prompt fading procedures, stimulus control and fading procedures, and generalization and maintenance procedures.
  • Understanding of the functions of behavior, and differential reinforcement principles.
  • Ability to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events.
  • Ability to routinely gather, collate, and/or classify data.
  • Ability to consider a number of factors when using equipment.
  • Flexibility to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances.
  • Ability to analyze data utilizing defined but different processes.
  • Ability to operate equipment using standardized methods.
  • Ability to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups.
  • Ability to work with data of varied types and/or purposes.

  • Regular attendance except when taking approved leave.
  • Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Insurability (as assigned).
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA).
  • 20 hours in-service annually.
  • Annual Basic and/or Advanced SCM Certification.
  • Kansas Bureau of Investigation clearance.
  • Kansas Department of Children and Families clearance.
  • Physical Exam/TB Screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.
  • Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area.
  • Paraeducators working in a Title I building (or district wide), REQUIRE a minimum of 48 college credit hours, OR the successful completion of a state approved Paraeducator Assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to instructional staff and students to effect positive behavioral change.
  • Work directly with students ages 3-21 to teach skills needed for classroom success and reduce problem behavior.
  • Collect and graph behavioral data for analysis and response to student progress.
  • Implement evidence-based behavior strategies.
  • Train team members on data collection, graphing, and implementation of behavioral strategies.
  • Participate in monthly after-school supervision sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with teams.
  • Accept direction from certified teachers and/or behavior consultants.
  • Administer first aid and prescription medications to students.
  • Assist in developing procedures and training materials for staff working with students with behavioral concerns.
  • Assist with individualized assessment procedures.
  • Confers with teachers/specialists and participates in team meetings.
  • Implement academic instruction and behavioral plans.
  • Perform maneuvers as required by professional crisis management courses.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Assist other personnel as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
