The Role: Regional Director of Health & Well-Being provides direct hands on leadership and support to community leadership teams primarily working with our Executive Directors and Directors of Wellness.  This Leader will work with the Health & Well-Being teams to ensure consistent delivery of exceptional service and experiences by inspiring and empowering our team members to make a meaningful difference with the lives of those we serve.   The Regional Director of Health & Well-Being will model the Vitality philosophy of promoting Vibrant Living by understanding the unmet needs of the residents living with various healthcare needs including Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.  This Leader will work to develop a well-trained, compassionate care team that promotes dignity and choice to residents while addressing other service issues that have a potential impact upon the health and wellbeing of our residents. The ideal candidate will reside in the Southeast region (TN or GA preferred) and be located within reasonable proximity to a major airport.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse  
  • Meet state or provincial health-related requirements. 
  • Maintain current professional license  
  • Maintain current CPR certification.
  • Maintain any other certifications as required by state or provincial regulations. 
  • Demonstrate ability to professionally and compassionately communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Has held similar positions in senior living, skilled nursing, home health , and/or rehabilitation centers that serve older adults. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team caring for older adults. 
  • Be able and willing to travel up to 75% of your working time.  
  • Be a self-starter capable of working remotely and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality staff of Nurses/Medication Attendants/Resident Services Attendants by recruiting, hiring, supervising, evaluating, counseling, and if necessary, terminating team members.
  • Upholds Vitality Senior Living’s values and models professional behaviors in accordance with service standards as a key leader of the Vitality team.
  • Assists and partners with the Regional Vice President, Executive Directors and Health & Well-Being Directors to develop and maintain Vitality’s wellness programs and Vitality’s Vibrant Living standards.
  • Participates and leads in the development of a resident services programming, monitors program implementation and success throughout the communities.
  • Participates in the development of protocols and policies to ensure compliance all operating states regulations, Vitality’s Policies and Procedures and best practice.
  • Formulates training policies, programs, and schedules for the Health & WellBeing department, based on knowledge of identified training needs, company production processes, business systems, or changes in products, procedures, or services.   
  • Works closely with the People & Culture and Engagement in selecting the appropriate instructional procedures or methods such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role play, and computer-based training for the Resident Services department.
  • Organizes and develops training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials in collaboration with the People & Culture and Engagement.  Works closely with People & Culture and Engagement in identifying community specific needs for appropriate implementation and assistance to meet business objectives. 
  • Trains new Health & Well-Being Directors and other Well-Being supervisory personnel in effective techniques for training, such as new Team Member’s orientation, on-the-job training, health and safety practices, management development, and adaptations to changes in policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Maintains records and prepares statistical reports to evaluate performance of instructors and monitor progress of trainees.
  • Works closely with People & Culture and Engagement in operating staffing model and service guidelines in Vitality’s Vibrant Living programing to meet changing needs of residents.  Conducts analysis studies and confers with Executive Director and Health & Well_Being Directors in determining continuous improvement of operating model.  
  • Working knowledge of Texas and Florida and other state regulations in which Vitality operates. 
  • Ensure Nurses/Medication Attendants/Resident Services are educated and trained using the respective Resources (e.g., Nurse Resource). 
  • Ensure regular competency evaluations of Nurses/Medication Attendants/Resident Services Attendants are completed. 
  • Conduct continuing education and training for Nurses/Medication Assistants/Resident Services Attendants as necessary on all shifts. 
  • Complete Nursing Assessments, auxiliary evaluations of residents, and all other required and/or appropriate evaluations, addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. 
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining quality of care systems to ensure all residents receive the care as outlined on individual resident care plans.  This includes systems to ensure correct medications are administered as needed, physicians and other health therapies are communicated with in a timely way and families are informed of any resident change of conditions. 
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state or provincial regulations pertaining to health services.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned.
  • Review a monthly quality report for the Executive Director and Vice President of Health & Wellbeing on quality indicators such as: falls, weight loss, hospitalizations, re-hospitalizations, number of medications and psychoactive medications 
  • Increase team member recognition and reward through performance reviews and promotion. 
  • Attend and participate in training, in-services, and team member meetings, as requested. 
  • Understand and implement all emergency plans including fire, earthquake and other disasters. Assists in monthly training for team members and yearly evacuation plans for team members and residents.
