About The Position

This role is for a Regional Technology Specialist within Johnson & Johnson MedTech, Electrophysiology, based in Nashville, TN. The company is focused on healthcare innovation to prevent, treat, and cure diseases, with expertise in Innovative Medicine and MedTech. The Cardiovascular team specifically develops solutions for heart recovery, electrophysiology, and stroke. The Regional Technology Specialist will be an integral part of the US Field Sales & Service group, reporting to a New Technology Manager and partnering with Regional Business Directors and Territory Managers. The primary focus is on assessing and increasing the clinical competency development for the field organization, identifying training gaps, and monitoring improvement to a level of certification. This role is also accountable for launching new technologies and achieving business objectives. The specialist will act as a strategic partner to implement emerging education related to new technologies and organizational directives, aiming to improve the clinical competence of the workgroup and ensure Electrophysiology personnel are recognized as best in industry. Additionally, the role may involve providing technical and clinical product support to physicians and laboratory staff for electrophysiology diagnostic and therapeutic catheters and systems to enable advanced cardiac ablation procedures. Building and maintaining relationships with physicians and EP laboratory staff to foster interest in new products and grow product/technology utilization is key. Collaboration with Territory Managers, Field Service Engineers, and Field Management is essential for aligning activities with business objectives. The specialist will also work with the NTM and Global Education & Training team to assess clinical skills and establish development plans, and manage a workgroup-wide certification plan. Measuring quantifiable learning and growth within the assigned workgroup is a key accountability. The role involves executing content for emerging and targeted growth areas, partnering with Sales, Marketing, and Global Education and Training for continual education. Expert clinical product and technical assistance, along with training to physicians and EP/IC Lab Staff on the effective use of electrophysiology systems and catheter equipment, is required. Educating customers on all electrophysiology products to optimize usage, sharing best practices, and coaching on consultative selling techniques to identify sales opportunities are also part of the responsibilities. The specialist will create awareness of electrophysiology solutions and facilitate contact with key decision-makers. Collaboration and communication across the assigned responsibilities with local teams, support teams, and other partners are crucial. Developing and sharing best practices with colleagues and internal partners, and growing customer relationships within and beyond the EP/IC lab are expected. Staying current on company products, instructions for use, best practices, technical troubleshooting, and relevant scientific literature is necessary. The role requires prioritizing and responding to requests in a high-stress environment, maintaining composure, and engaging in diagnostic dialogue to formulate solutions. Daily response to emails and voicemails, performing administrative work (e.g., Field Visit Letters, training summaries, expense reporting), and providing case support for equipment operation and use are also required. Communication with counterparts, supervisors, and business partners, maintaining Safe Fleet standards, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and policies are essential. The role may also involve ensuring subordinates follow Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree, or 5 years of relevant professional work experience.
  • Excellent oral (including group presentations) and written communication skills.
  • Solid organizational and time management abilities.
  • A valid driver's license issued in the United States.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 70% overnight locally, regionally, and nationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in cardiology technology (E.g. IBHRE, RCES), for EP and clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and increase clinical competency development for the assigned workgroup's field organization.

  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with physicians & EP laboratory staff to identify and foster interest in new products or product indications.
  • Grow and develop the company's product and technology utilization.
  • Partner with Territory Managers, Field Service Engineers and Field Management to ensure alignment and coordination of activities to meet business objectives.
  • Accurately assess the clinical skills of assigned electrophysiology clinical team members and establish a prioritized clinical development plan.
  • Facilitate the development of assigned electrophysiology clinical team members to meet certification requirements and ongoing clinical development process.
  • Develop & execute a workgroup-wide certification plan.
  • Measure and be accountable for quantifiable learning and growth in their assigned workgroup.
  • Partner with Sales and Service leaders to execute content for emerging and targeted areas of growth.
  • Partner with various stakeholders including Sales, Marketing and Global Education & Training to execute continual education of all sales and clinical field personnel.
  • Provide expert clinical product and technical assistance and training to physicians and EP/IC Lab Staff on the effective use of electrophysiology systems and catheter equipment.
  • Educate assigned customers on all electrophysiology products to optimize effective usage.
  • Share best practices to increase value for customers.
  • Use and coach aligned workgroups on consultative selling techniques to identify potential sales opportunities within the account.
  • Create awareness of electrophysiology solutions and facilitates Territory Manager (TM) and Clinical Account Specialist (CAS) contact with key decision makers to drive incremental business.
  • Drive collaboration and maintains consistent, open lines of communication across the assigned responsibilities with the local team/Pod, as well as the support team and other internal and external partners.
  • Develop and share best practices with US Field Sales and Service colleagues and internal partners.
  • Develop and grow mutually beneficial customer relationships within and beyond the EP/IC lab.
  • Stay current on company products instructions for use (IFU), best practices and technical troubleshooting, as well as relevant scientific clinical literature and new product information.
  • Prioritize and appropriately respond to requests in a high-stress environment.

  • Set appointments, present clinical and technical information, and be present to ensure optimal equipment usage.
