About The Position

This position provides educational leadership to the Catholic Schools in a respective region in collaboration with the Superintendent of Schools' staff and pastors of parish-based schools. The Regional Superintendent acts as the primary spiritual leader and instructional leader for their region of schools, monitoring and assessing Catholic Identity, academic achievement, and leadership effectiveness. This role also involves significant administrative responsibilities, including representing the Superintendent, coordinating professional development, overseeing regional staff, and managing budgets.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing
  • Master's degree required in Education
  • 5+ years as a principal in Catholic schools
  • School Building Leadership Certification required
  • Must have own transportation to travel within the archdiocese

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess the Catholic Identity of every school as well as the quality of its programs.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Catholic Identity to ensure schools are Christ-Centered.
  • Encourage school administration to promote/practice regular routines of prayer.
  • Confirm principals and teachers are properly certified.
  • Ensure all schools within the region participate in the annual Spirituality Day.
  • Monitor and assess the academic achievement of every school as well as the quality of its programs.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Teaching and Learning to ensure schools are academically excellent.
  • Develop an annual academic and professional development plan for the schools within the region.
  • Supervise and evaluate the effectiveness of the Instructional Specialists.
  • Monitor principals' academic achievement goals, objectives, and long-range plans.
  • Hold follow-up meetings with principals of high-need schools.
  • Conduct periodic visits to high-need schools.
  • Monitor the protocol for school "walkthroughs".
  • Make announced and unannounced visits to all principals and conduct school walkthroughs.
  • Review all Data Day school-based plans and progress reports.
  • Review evaluation's summary reports for all principals and consult with each regarding his or her academic goals.
  • Provide appropriate consultation and ongoing support for schools to maintain Archdiocesan recognized school accreditation status.
  • Promote schools in his/her region to become NCEA Catholic Schools of Distinction.
  • Monitor and assess the leadership of every school as well as the quality of its programs.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Leadership, Formation and Recruitment to ensure leadership effectiveness.
  • Assist with the recruiting and formation of school principals.
  • Support and give input into the Newly Appointed Principal Onboarding and Formation Program, the Newly Appointed Principal Meetings, and the semi-annual Administrators' Meetings.
  • Assist in mentoring at-risk principals.
  • Promote compliance with the requirement that all principals obtain NYS Certification in Administration.
  • Evaluate principals in accord with the Archdiocesan policy.
  • Recommend the discipline or termination of employment of principals to the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Act as the Superintendent's representative with local public-school officials.
  • Keep the Superintendent informed of the condition of the region's educational system.
  • Coordinate and plan, in conjunction with the Office of the Superintendent, regional professional development offerings and the allocation of government resources.
  • Promote current and future strategic planning initiatives.
  • Work with the Regional Finance Manager.
  • Oversee the education staff in the Regional Office.
  • Seek to address complaints, comments, and concerns regarding the educational operations of the schools.
  • Serve as a mediator in conflict resolution at the schools.
  • Support the successful implementation of the Safe Environment Program.
  • Monitor the Regional Office budget.
  • Perform other special projects and duties as assigned by Superintendent and/or Deputy Superintendent.

Benefits

  • Compensation range for this position is: $100,000 - $135,000 annually.
