About The Position

The Regional Sales Representative is responsible for developing new business and expanding ALS Environmental presence throughout the Eastern and Southern United States. This is a remote, field-based sales position focused primarily on building a regional client base for methamphetamine and other illicit drug testing services, while also promoting ALS’s broader environmental and industrial hygiene laboratory capabilities. The successful candidate will identify and develop relationships with environmental consultants, remediation contractors, property-management companies, restoration firms, industrial hygiene professionals, government agencies, law-enforcement organizations, and other clients requiring laboratory services. This position requires a proactive business-development professional who can build a market, generate leads, communicate technical testing capabilities, and coordinate effectively with ALS laboratory and client-service teams. This is a remote, field-based position, with preference given to candidates located in the southeast region of the US. The Regional Sales Representative will work independently from a home office while maintaining regular communication with sales leadership and the ALS Salt Lake City laboratory. Periodic travel to the Salt Lake City laboratory may be required for onboarding, training, planning, and team meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of sales experience, ideally within environmental services, laboratory testing, or a related technical field.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to understand technical laboratory testing services and explain them to clients.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience selling analytical laboratory testing services (e.g., industrial hygiene, water, soil, air, PFAS, hazardous waste).
  • Existing network within environmental consulting, engineering, industrial hygiene, or industrial sectors.
  • Preferred familiarity with EPA, OSHA, NPDES, and state-specific environmental regulations.
  • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers
  • Must be able to see and read technical reports
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively to Operate a computer
  • Communicate by telephone and video conference
  • Drive and/or travel to client locations and attending conferences and trade shows.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets for Industrial Hygiene and Environmental laboratory services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Identify, prospect, and generate new business opportunities across a wide range of diverse sectors.
  • Collaborate with laboratory operations, project managers, and customer service teams at the Salt Lake City lab to ensure high-quality service delivery and timely resolution of client concerns.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations, proposals, and service agreements tailored to customer needs.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Industrial Hygiene and Environmental testing methods, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and pipeline updates using CRM tools.
  • Represent ALS at regional conferences, trade shows, industry events, and client meetings.
  • Monitor market conditions and competitor activity to identify opportunities and recommend strategic adjustments.
  • Travel throughout the region as needed (typically 25–50%).
