About The Position

The instruments sold by Mercury Hampton Ltd are critical for ensuring power quality and reliability in sectors like data centers and utilities. These test and measurement devices, backed by accredited calibration services, are sold through a global group with a strong engineering heritage. This role involves growing the US Central region by directly acquiring key accounts and managing independent sales representatives and distribution partners. The position requires the individual to be the commercial authority for the region, demonstrating equipment, running seminars, and working trade shows. It also involves managing sales reps and partners, ensuring forecast accuracy, and evaluating their performance. The role demands market awareness, including competitor analysis and customer feedback, and maintaining up-to-date CRM records.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in technical sales.
  • Experience in test and measurement, power quality, or technical electronics is ideal.
  • Ability to demo and credibly support the product range.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets through both direct and indirect channels.
  • Enjoyment of travel and working independently.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Commercial sharpness and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to fix problems rather than escalate them.

Responsibilities

  • Grow the US Central region's sales.
  • Act as the commercial authority for all products sold in the region.
  • Directly hunt and win strategic key accounts.
  • Demonstrate equipment, run seminars, and work trade shows.
  • Provide first-line technical support.
  • Manage a network of independent sales representatives and distribution partners.
  • Ensure a rolling three-month forecast is maintained monthly.
  • Hold partners accountable for end-user activity.
  • Conduct honest evaluations of partners, potentially leading to termination.
  • Act as the market's eyes and ears, reporting on competitor behavior and customer requirements.
  • Provide monthly market feedback and keep CRM records current.
